HRI 2018 WORKSHOP ON SOCIAL HUMAN-ROBOT INTERACTION

OF HUMAN-CARE SERVICE ROBOTS

March 5, 2018, 9:00-13:00 (morning half-day session)

Grant Park B, McCormick Place, Chicago, IL, USA

The 13th Annual ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human Robot Interaction (HRI 2018) invites papers for a Workshop on Social Human-Robot Interaction of Human-care Service Robots.

Service robots with social intelligence are coming to the human world, and they will help us to make our lives better. We are organizing an exciting workshop at HRI 2018 that is oriented towards sharing the ideas of participants with diverse backgrounds ranging from Human-Robot Interaction design, social intelligence, decision making, social psychology and robotic skills. The purpose of this workshop is to explore how social robots can interact with humans socially and facilitate the integration of social robots.

This workshop will focus on the current advances in the area of social Human-Robot Interaction, social intelligence, social skills, and their applications including clinical evaluations. Papers are solicited on all areas directly related to these topics, including but not limited to:

  • Social perception and context awareness
  • Short/long-term behaviour recognition
  • Social expression and interactive behavior
  • Social task modelling and management
  • Social grasping and navigation skills
  • Social humanoid robot design
  • Human-robot interaction design
  • Emotion recognition and model design
  • Dialogue based interaction
  • User evaluation
  • Applications such as healthcare, receptionist, education

All papers for this workshop must be submitted in PDF format and conform to ACM SIG Proceedings specifications. Please note that we are not following the SIGCHI format, but rather the general ACM SIG format. Templates are available at the ACM webpage (http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template), where you should use the sample-sigconf.tex or ACM_SigConf.docx files.

Submission Instructions

We invite short papers of 2-4 pages in the standard double-column ACM HRI conference format. Submissions should be in accordance with the topics of interest, and they will be available on the workshop’s website: http://robotics.auckland.ac.nz/HRI2018-deeptask

Templates (sigconf): http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates

Email your papers to Ho Seok Ahn (hs.ahn@auckland.ac.nz) by the submission due.
