The Selwyn Foundation has won the 2016 ‘QPS Benchmarking Innovative Delivery Award’, announced at this week’s New Zealand Aged Care Association (NZACA) conference.

Selwyn collected the award for their use of the PARO robotic seals and the therapeutic benefits and positive outcomes that are achieved for residents as a result.
The successful trials were undertaken with the University of Auckland and focused on how interaction with the seals can help lower residents’ anxiety levels, restoring their sense of calm and well-being, and also encourage greater social activity.

The NZACA’s ‘Excellence in Care’ Awards recognize the continuous pursuit of excellence by aged residential care homes and their staff.
